Togolese people are awaiting the provisional results of the presidential election on 22 February. The institution in charge of organizing the elections, the CeNI Independent National Electoral Commission in a statement announces that the provisional results will be known no later than the evening of Monday 24 February 2020.
But already the first trends place the candidate of the MPDD, Mensan Agbéyomé Kodjo supported by Monsignor Kpodzro Fanoko and outgoing President Faure Gnassingbé in the lead. But the compilations of the results are still ongoing and the ruling party also says it is serene and confident of its candidate's victory.
The main opposition political party, Jean Pierre FABRE's ANC, came in third.
It should already be noted that on 22 February 2020, the day of the vote, several irregularities and cases of fraud were identified. The power of Lomé also cut off access to the internet connection for much of the evening and night.
