Jean Pierre Fabre is clear. No association with a candidate out of the deity. Better yet, he called for the cancellation of Faure Gnassingbé's candidacy. Fourth term. Far from being a joke, it shakes the public.

As we approach the presidential election on 22 February, we are still not ending with the debates on the various candidacies. At a press conference yesterday at the Eda OBA Hotel in the Togolese capital, the leaders of the political alliance National For Change made the rounds of political news and at the same time revived the scathing criticism of the candidacy of the president who already has three terms under his belt. Joining the deed to the floor, the party of the mayor of Gulf 4 has taken the constitutional court to invalidate the candidacy of Faure Gnassingbé which, according to him, violates the current constitution

In front of the national and international press on Tuesday (January 21st), the mayor of Gulf 4 finally came out of his silence to give his opinion on the political news of the country before the opening of the election campaigns and the holding of the election in a minus. It is also an opportunity for the former leader of the opposition to make public some of his actions that he is carrying out in the shadows. Indeed, on this last point, Jean Pierre Fabre informed the journalists and other personalities present at this press conference of the existence of an appeal he made to the Constitutional Court for the invalidation of the outgoing president's candidacy.

For the president of the ANC, the current constitution, although it was unilaterally and in a shambles amended on 8 May 2019 in a flawed parliamentary procedure, does not give Faure Gnassingbé the opportunity to run for a fourth Application. As a result, his candidacy is unconstitutional. That is why the president of the National Alliance for Change, himself a candidate running for the next presidential election, is taking the constitutional court to have Faure's candidacy annulled. In his regard, the amendments to this constitution have serious shortcomings and are therefore unlawful, null and void.

Jean Pierre Fabre did not fail to shoot at the constitutional court, the same one he seized. The conditions under which this court was "recomposed" are no different from those of the amendment of the constitution. The recomposition of this much-proclaimed courtyard is only a façade.

Some judges who continue to sit on this court are harshly criticized by both. At the head of these, the president of the court Aboudou Assouma, who is recognized by his longevity as president of this institution. The former leader of the opposition simply calls for the resignation of these judges, whom he describes as immovable.

It was also an opportunity for the ANC candidate to comment on the rumours that have been circulating in recent times, expressing his intention to join the candidacy of Kodjo Agbéyomé. He brushed off these rumours, saying, "I will not give up my candidacy. The problem is not being in front or behind or next to someone."

In fact, Bishop Kpodzro had taken steps in this direction. Bring together all opposition candidates and political parties around Agbéyomé Kodjo as the sole opposition candidate.

For some political analysts, the ANC president's approach is a political strategy to shake up the opposite side. But some believe that the legal process in which Jean Pierre Fabre has embarked is a loss of energy. The best thing is to focus on the essentials of pre-campaigns, campaigns and the election on February 22. In any case, the public remains attentive to the outcome of this remedy, although one could already imagine it, given that the dependence of the judiciary of the executive is often noted and decried by all.
