Music: Manu Dibango succumbs to covid-19.

Rumours of his death had been circulating on social media for a few days. They are now confirmed. Manu Dibango bowed out. The famous Cameroonian saxophonist died of coronavirus (covid19) at the age of 86. The information was given by his family and relayed by our colleagues from France 24 this morning.

The artist had been hospitalized since March 18 following his covid-19 contamination.

The Cameroonian jazz musician nicknamed "Grandpa Groove" has been one of the best to have worn the colors of Africa around the world.

His biography describes a dynamic and very talented man.

Born in Douala (Cameroon) in 1933, he emigrated to France specifically to Marseille in 1949.  Emmanuel N'djoke Dibango, whose real name is Emmanuel N'djoke Dibango, was knighted in the Legion of Honour in 2010.

The artist celebrated his 60-year career the year after with his album "Safari Symphonique", a mix of jazz and classical music.

Manu Dibango thus becomes the second famous musician, after Aurlus Mabélé having succumbed to Coronavirus (covid19).
