Kodjo Agbeyome: A political programme that will surprise…

Agbéyomé KODJO, inspired candidate never ceases to surprise Togolese in his media hype.

The former Prime Minister of Gnassingbé Eyadéma, who presents himself as the ultimate solution for a successful alternation, makes increasingly disturbing statements. It is not surprising that it is the subject of much criticism from the public.

Asked about his political agenda, Bishop Fanoko Kpodzro's leading candidate said he planned to release Kpatcha Gnassingbé. "I will go to prison to get Kpatcha Gnassingbé out," he told reporters.

While it is true that to show good heart that releasing a man who languishes unjustly in prison is useful work, it must be remembered that the Togolese citizen has more concerns about improving his living and working conditions. A promise to release the enigmatic political prisoner of Togo is by no means the first concern of a Togolese.

Agbéyomé Kodjo, however, declared that he favoured innovative and unifying political strategies for political conquests. Until then, these strategies are not visible.

Worse, the candidate's excesses lay bare his lack of innovative ideas and only confirm his nostalgic desire to regain a long lost prestige.

Present, as a bulky guest at the press conference of the political party Alliance Nationale pour la Change (ANC), Agbéyomé was able to hear the ANC candidate, Jean Pierre Fabre, make it clear that he will never support the idea of Bishop Kpodzro. For him there is no question of withdrawing his candidacy in favour of Agbéyomé Kodjo: "I will not give up my candidacy. The problem is not being in front or behind or next to someone," he said.

It is clear that the regime's staunch opponents do not intend to be fooled by a salesman of wind and illusions.

The candidate who claims to have wanted in the meantime to give up the mission entrusted to him in the face of criticism of him, does not convince togolese with his program.

Perhaps it is time for him to question himself, to wash away the smears of a dismal past fixed on a controversial present, in order to avoid yet another humiliation in the aftermath of 22 February 2020.
