(@ Independantexpress.net)

Fifty years in the life of any institution, any business or even any individual deserve to be taken into consideration and worthy of commemoration. FUCEC TOGO, officially launched this Monday, December 09, 2019, the commemoration of its fifty years of existence. A celebration that did not go unnoticed by the history of this financial institution but above all drew attention to the challenges to be met in order to offer its members quality services worthy of a financial institution more than a half old century.

1969-2019, FUCEC-TOGO is fifty years old. It was this Monday, December 09, 2019 that was chosen to open the activities that will furnish this golden jubilee. To this end, a symposium was organized at the premises of Agora Senghor in Lomé in the Togolese capital to officially launch this fiftieth anniversary. A celebration of 50 years of existence under the theme « FUCEC-TOGO, 50 years: BALANCE SHEET AND OUTLOOK ». This fiftieth anniversary therefore marks a stop to allow us to reflect on the functioning of this financial institution with the sole aim of better doing and better serving its members in the years to come.

At the beginning, a simple association, the FUCEC was formed today as a network and therefore more rooted and extended, closer to the people and more innovative. To date, this financial institution has 37 Coopec members of the network. More than a million people are beneficiaries of this institution which counts 780,000 accounts.

FUCEC-TOGO currently has 113 points of sale spread across the national spectrum. These figures make FUCEC the largest microfinance network in Togo.

To reach this level, we had to develop and focus on a certain number of values all these years. At FUCEC-TOGO, the importance of members, professionalism, integrity, equity, justice and solidarity have been established as a rule. All these values are applied in order to achieve the mission that the FUCEC-TOGO Network has assigned to itself for decades. It therefore aims to be a microfinance institution that offers innovative, secure, profitable financial services, accessible to all through a unified network of financial cooperatives concerned with always applying best management practices. At this golden jubilee which marks the end of one era and the beginning of another, FUCEC-TOGO wants to establish in the country, a cooperative savings and credit network of reference in financial and social inclusion .

Three papers, presented respectively by Kotsoni Kodzo AKEMAKOU, Alpha Ouedraogo and Eric EKUE, sanctioned this symposium. Starting from the general theme of the fiftieth anniversary, the first communication is based on the 1st sub-theme: The history of the cooperative and a brief reminder of the history of Fucec-Togo. Indeed, it is the oldest Microfinance in Togo and the sub-region. FUCEC has its origins in the creation in 1969 of the National Committee of Unions for the Development of Savings and Credit (CONAUDEC) by a group of volunteers and pioneers from Togo. It was in 1983 that it was called under the current name. The second communication is carried under the sub-theme: The organization, the functioning of federated cooperative networks and the sharing of powers within and between levels. And the third communication on the 3rd sub-theme: The organization, operation, control of federated cooperative networks from the point of view of the regulation of DFS in WAMU.

All these communications made it possible to maintain the personnel and the persons in charge of all the dismemberments of the institution in Togo on the assessment of the 50 years of life and essentially on the perspectives envisaged by the institution. This commemoration saw the participation of eminent personalities working in the field of Microfinance from the West African sub-region. Aware of the challenges to be met in the years to come, FUCEC-TOGO has remained upright in its mission to fight poverty and promote financial inclusion for all.

Opened by Mr. Essossimanadada DADANEMA in his capacity as president of the Board of Directors of Fucec-Togo, it is also on his words that the symposium which marks the beginning of the program of this celebration ended.
